CLG Na Fianna Receives SafeShel Sponsorship from Local Business in Major Step for Pitch-Side Safety

CLG Na Fianna, one of the largest and most respected GAA clubs in Ireland, has become the latest club to adopt SafeShel — a vital piece of equipment designed to provide privacy, dignity, and shelter during medical emergencies on the pitch. The SafeShel unit was generously sponsored by the owner of Kennedy’s Pub, showcasing how local businesses can play a pivotal role in supporting player welfare and community safety.

A Club Leading by Example

Based in Dublin, Na Fianna has over 215 teams and thousands of players, coaches, and members across all age groups and codes. With activity taking place almost daily across their busy grounds, the addition of SafeShel marks a significant upgrade to their emergency preparedness infrastructure.

By sponsoring a SafeShel for Na Fianna, Kennedy’s Pub has taken a commendable step in supporting the safety of not only players, but referees, spectators, and volunteers who may experience a medical incident while at the club. The donation also sets an important precedent for how community partnerships can lead to lasting improvements in local GAA infrastructure.

On-Site Demonstration at Na Fianna

The SafeShel team recently visited CLG Na Fianna to provide a live demonstration of the shelter in action. Niall Cooper, Coaching Director at the club, was shown the key features and flexibility of the structure, which includes six access points for responders and a protective, enclosed environment that shields casualties from public view and weather exposure.

With a wide range of use cases — from sudden injury to hypothermia, collapse, or other on-pitch emergencies — SafeShel gives clubs a practical solution to provide both privacy and space for treatment while waiting for medical responders or transport.

GAA Safety

This sponsorship represents more than just one club receiving new equipment. It reflects a growing awareness in the GAA community about the importance of safeguarding everyone on the pitch — not just players. SafeShel is already being adopted across Ireland by clubs who want to ensure they are prepared to treat and protect any individual, from a minor player to a match official or supporter.
